Heaven will disappear with a roar
And the host of God will come to destroy
Sin is a declaration of war
God will have his glory.
One way or another.
-Team Strike Force from the Song “Destructor”
This week it’s all about music. I’ve really been enjoying many of the bands that contribute to the Mars Hill Worship. Check out some of the outstanding ear candy below:

I’ve started a “Now Listening To” category or you can check out the Streampad player on the sidebar.

Mark Dever preaches one of the most famous sermons: Johnathan Edwards’ “Sinners in the hands of an angry God”

The Shepard’s Scrapbook has a fantastic weekend project: Building your own Johnathan Edwards Blank Bible. Sweetness. I gave it a shot last weekend with some success. I purchased a center-reference hard bound ESV and brought it to Staples where I had them cut off the binding, cut a ream of paper in half and punch the binding holes. I only wish I had gone to a copy shop that specializes in this kind of thing because almost all of the cuts were off. Even so, the end result was usable. I found the most difficult part about the process was lining up the holes correctly so the binding ring would thread properly. But all in all it was much easier than anticipated.
Hi all!
Merry is out of the hospital and feeling better. Thanks for your prayers! She is into the “kidney issues” much earlier than her previous pregnancies, so if you’d keep her in your prayers we’d appreciate it very much.
Dr. Andrew Davis offers an aggressive approach to memorizing scripture.
Memorizing Books Is Better Than Memorizing Individual Verses
Jesus said, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) Paul said “All Scripture is God-breathed, and is useful for teaching rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness…” (2 Timothy 3:16) Memorizing individual verses tends to miss intervening verses that the individual does not feel are as significant. Furthermore, most of Scripture is written to make a case… there is a flow of argumentation that is missed if individual verses are memorized. Furthermore, there is also a greater likelihood of taking verses out of context by focusing on individual verses.
Memorizing a whole book seems nearly impossible to me but he makes a good case…maybe I’ll give it a shot!
Leave a comment if you think you might give it a go.
My wife is in the hospital right now with severe kidney pain, we think it’s probably a stone but as of now are unsure of exactly what it is. She’s had kidney issues with each of her pregnancies but they usually come much later than this. Please pray for her.
Thanks!
